Why Choose a Guinea Pig as a Pet?
Yes, they are rodents but they are cute and lovable unlike their relatives the mice and the rat. There are many people that believe that only dogs and cats make great pets. Dogs make great pets because they are loyal, playful and will protect you. A cat is an OK pet but because of their independent nature, they will come to you when they want to not when you want them to. When they are hungry they will be your best friends.
A guinea pig will love and appreciate the love you give them, they like to be held and played with. You can take them outside and let them run in the grass, but watch out for cats, they don’t really know a guinea pig is a pet, they know it as a rodent. They will love the grass, because in the wild it is their first line of diet. It is instinct to eat it.
They also make great pets because they won’t jump on people when you have people over, they won’t eat the food off of your table, and they won’t eat your mail or homework.
They don’t have to be taken outside, you can if you prefer but they can be just as healthy indoors as well as outdoors.
You don’t have to walk them everyday especially in the cold winter months. Basically a guinea pig is a low maintenance pet. The only obligations you have are to feed the pet and play with them and does that really feel like an obligation. Guinea pigs love to handled and played with.
